Hi Lovecovers,
There's a few things you can do:
1) Go to the "Configuartion" page in DLGuard (under the Options menu).
Tick the box "Use Large File Support", and "Set Server Timeout To Zero".
Run a download test to make sure it's still working. As long as your particular host accepts these settings, it can make a more stable download for larger files.
OR
2) You could host your files on Amazon S3 - DLGuard v4.6 has full Amazon S3 support which will fix any server related timeouts.
OR
3) Try breaking your files up into 100mb chunks, and allow your customers to download them in parts.
cheers

Sam I reviewed the videos and did everything as stated.. I found the advanced options in the back office of DLGuard.. When I put them in I am getting error messages when I do a test..
here is one of them:
Error>
<Code>InvalidAccessKeyId</Code>
−
<Message>
The AWS Access Key Id you provided does not exist in our records.
</Message>
<RequestId></RequestId>
−
<HostId>
Y6RsZ1AdO+/fc7w4DgLWE
</HostId>
<AWSAccessKeyId></AWSAccessKeyId>
</Error
When I entered the Access Key (which I have tried my account number for Amazon S3 also ) I get this message"
<Error>
<Code>NoSuchKey</Code>
<Message>The specified key does not exist.</Message>
−
<Key>
Destroying-Activity-of-.mp3
</Key>
<RequestId></RequestId>
−
<HostId>
</HostId>
</Error>
What Key do they want.. I am using the Access Key ID that was given with my Amazon S3 account.. and I am also just putting the file name instead of the whole url as directed in the back office under product name.. What do I do now? |

Hi Lovecovers,
I haven't had a chance to look at the videos, but all you need to do is login to DLGuard, go to the Edit Product page, click on the Advanced Settings link underneath where your Product URL is.
Then you'll see the S3 boxes.
In the Product URL, put your filename, and the foldername if you have the file inside a folder.
Eg. foldername/file.zip
The bucketname is just that, the bucketname.
The Access keys can be found here:
http://aws.amazon.com/security-credentials
Remember the Access Key and "Secret Access Key" are different. These are listed in two seperate spots on that page above.
cheers

Hey Sam
I did finally figure it out.. I had the file in a folder within a folder and I was just using the root folder in my product name..
folder/folder/file.zip is what I had and I was just putting folder/file.zip.
After I figured that out FINALLY it downloaded
But as I sent you in another email: I am having problems with cloaking the link. In other words as long as the customer "right clicks" and save file as the link is cloaked.. However, if they just click on download then the whole link is shown even the AWS key is in the link. Is there anyway around this..
Also I mentioned that after the file is downloaded and when playing the file(s) in windows media player the time of the the mp3 is cut in half.. If I play in another media player the whole time is played .. now that is weird..
Lastly .. do I have to set permissions for all the files as well as the folders within the buckets?
Thanks for your help Sam and all other forum members that wrote in with there issues .. I learned a bunch from you all..
Thanks!!!! |

Hi lovecovers1,
No worries, I've replied to your ticket about that, but for others wondering about the cloaked URL.
The Amazon URL doesn't need to be cloaked, because DLGuard creates authenticated links with Amazon that only last a few minutes. These use Amazon's own security, and so they become useless within minutes.
Since your MP3 plays in other media players, it sounds like a setting or issue with your Windows Media Player. Maybe ask someone else to test it out on their own computer through WMP and see how it goes.
You can set different permissions for your files and folders if you wish, but when I tested it I didn't set any. If you do change permissions, make sure the file can still be downloaded via DLGuard.
cheers
