It will be much appreciated David.

My plan is to show streaming videos from S3 on protected pages.

Of course I've been doing some research, also on the Warrior Forum, but it's really not that clear. Easy Video Player is not a bed of roses either, it appears.

Cheers

Another update.

I found protecting videos on S3 too complicated for my liking.

So first I tried Vimeo. Unfortunately the privacy settings are unreliable. You think you put it right, to find out the next morning that they were changed overnight. If you have a membershipsite, where you don't want to allow embedding on different sites, this is a no no of course.

Well, this really happened to me, so it can happen again!

Therefore I looked into Motionbox. So far everything fine. Top quality video, no issues with the privacy settings. Possible to play long videos as well, no filesize limits!

Hi Folks,

I've just purchased DL Guard, and I have also just started using EZS3 to help me create website sales videos. My main product has some 680MB of zipped videos, so I intend to upload them via EZS3.

Question.

Do I need to follow the advice given in this forum for integrating DLG with S3 - or (hopefully) is integrating DLG with EZS3 easy to do...??

Or, (since I only sell a few of my videos per day), that I can just 'hide' the videos on a download page on the same site that DLG is installed and will point to...

I'm a non-techie and may need some help to get this done!

Regards

Dave

All I can say is WOW! This tutorial is amazing and has cleared up so many things for me. You could easily be selling this as a report and I would have gladly paid.

Thanks for the great information and hats off to you for the share SmileSmile

Thank you for the tutorial. I have watched all videos and read the PDF, but I'm still confused regarding what to enter on the dlg General Product settings page.

My files on S3 is organized in bucketname/foldername/filename.zip

So my question is -

1) In the "URL of product file:" field,
should I only enter the file name (i.e. filename.zip) or the bucketname/foldername/filename.zip?

2) In the "S3 Bucket Name:" filed,
should I only enter the the bucketname - (i.e. bucketname) or the full path (i.e. bucketname/foldername) - with OR without trailing slash) ?

Event though (what seems to be) the correct entry should be
1) filename.zip only and
2) bucketname/foldername

I only get an XML page (stylesheet missing) telling that the bucket is not found.

Up to now I only get an XML page (stylesheet missing) when only having the bucketname in 2) saying that the bucket is not found. - or when having the bucketname/foldername in 2) I get a 404 - not found to the effect of

http://bucketname/foldername.s3.amazonaws.com/filename.zip?and-some-session-code.

Please advice.

Hal

============ UPDATE ============

Found the answer Smile

When entering foldername/filename.zip in 1) (URL for product) and bucketname in 2) - the file did download.

Hal

David, I'm a little late to the party, but thanks a lot for the tutorial. I'm up and running with S3 now (although I found the upload speeds to be dreadfully slow).

Wow, I should have come in to the forums ages ago. I've spent a lot of time banging my (metaphorical) non-web developer head against the S3 interface and trying to figure out how to set up my downloads for sale. Sadly, S3 seems like one of the last refuges of non-intuitive user interfaces.

Great tutorial, I look forward to the cloudfront tutorial as well.

If you are using DLG v5, the S3 is now integrated into DLG.
Those S3 tutorials are several years old, so a few things have changed. Hopefully I can get a new tutorial made to include the cloudfront.

Well, I just bought dlg, so I assume it is the newest version. If s3 was integrated it sure wasn't easy to figure out.

I'm still having some major problems, but not because of your tutorial so I'll post them elsewhere.

Ok, I can see how S3 is integrated into dlg now. However, when I try to use the integration (instead of just putting the full url of my file and ignoring the S3 stuff) the download link will not work.

It works well enough when I just put the full url into the "URL of product file:" field, though I now see that dlg is not actually creating a unique link - it just gives a direct link - which I could do myself without dlg.

Surely this should not be so complicated.
