|
|
Hello,
I've just tested Aweber integration with DLguard and it forced confirmed optin on a list where confirmed opt-in is OFF.
This is a major drawback because I DO NOT want to use confirmed optin on my customers' list.
I contacted Aweber on the subject and I am contacting you at the same time.
Can I go around this?
I bought DlGuard because I don't want my customers to have to enter their names and emails twice so I hope this can be fixed.
Please advise. |

I may be mistaken, as I am not using aWeber,
but from what I have read and understand ....
The aWeber form is filled in first and that is the only
time customers need to enter information.
(Regardless of your Opt-in setting)
THEN ... DLGuard uses that info and finishes the
sales process.
I may be wrong, but check to see that your
aWeber Opt-in form is first in the sales sequence.
Hope this helps,

Hi Laura,
It sounds like Aweber is forcing double-optin.
See what they say, but it sounds like they may not allow any way around it.
They won't need to add their details, though, as Aweber would just send a confirmation email for them to click on.
But it'll be interesting to hear what Aweber say!
cheers

This totally sucks!
It is a waist of my time.
It is just plain ridiculous to force double opt-in for customers.
I am extremely disappointed by their attitude.
Now I will have to go back and ask my customers to enter their emails and names twice. I am completely disgusted.
Take care |

I'm with you wiseweb. Aweber's stand on this sucks.
I had the same issue with them a few months back. I tried reasoning with them and took it all the way to upper management. They refused to budge for reasons best known to them.
I looked round for alternate solutions but had to stay with Aweber because of the loss of some subscribers. They just don't want to be hassled with the confirmation process again.
Sure, some will argue that those who can't be bothered with the simple process of clicking on a link are probably not good prospects anyway but the reality is, no one wants to give up on a hard-earned confirmed subscriber.
That's my 2cents worth of sympathy for you.

Hello Achinta,
It seems GetReponse allows it so I am thinking of switching to them.
I wish I had chosen them when they had unlimited accounts like the one I have with Aweber.
I know there is no use waisting my time trying to negotiate with Aweber so I will have to adapt or leave.
Thanks a lot for your understanding.
Can you tell me how you handle your customers?
Thanks,
Laura |

Hi Laura,
I send out a Thank You email to my customers with a link to confirm IF they wish to continue receiving emails from me. So far that has worked out well.
I also tell them about how often to expect my emails. I try not to send more than 2-3 emails a week.
Good luck with your move to GetResponse. I think they recently upgraded their UI.

Hello Achinta,
I think you are less aggressive than me.
I am thinking of doing things a bit differently at least for our free update.
If people want to get it
they will have to fill out a form (optin)
receive the confirmation email
click on the confirmation link
arrive at DlGuard download page
enter their email and name again and download.
I think I will place a video message explaining
what to expect and how they can unsubscribe
on top of the first form.
I have bought e-books this way in the past so
I guess it can work.
All the best,
Laura |

Hello Laura,
I was referring to customers who've bought a paid product and how I handle them through Aweber.
I drive my freebies through an opt-in form outside of DLG.
Whatever works best for you.

Hey Achinta,
I was talking about customers too. I would never skip confirmation for anyone else than my customers.
Those customers will get a free update of a guide they have already purchased.
Take care,
Laura |

Hi guys,
When I was discussing this with Aweber, basically they were saying that it's not their rule, as such, it's what they're made to implement by mail providers such as AOL.
It's a shame there isn't a way to do this, though. Maybe they'll implement an API system, or something similar in the future, and that may be better proof?
cheers

Hello,
I know Acajoom PRO as a great Joomla plugin that delivers e-mail on time.
I asked them if we could integrate their system with yours.
This was their reply.
http://www.ijoobi.com/help/acajoom/subscription-via-url-or-via-an-external-form.html
Sam, can you please take a look at this web page and tell me if it can be done. If so I will just use Dlguard with Acajoom for my customers and Aweber for my prospects.
Please reply to me ASAP.
This little problem has been keeping us from relaunching our book.
Thank you,
Laura |

Hi Laura,
Yes, that can be done!
DLGuard has the ability to POST sales details to a custom script at the point of purchase.
You'd have to have a script written for you that will read the values DLGuard sends, and then send them to your plugin.
This would probably be about $50 to $80, from the look of the integration page.
Are you already running the plugin?
cheers

Hello Sam,
Thank you so much for your reply. I haven't got the script ready or anything yet.
As I said we wanted to do this with Aweber but as it is not possible we are looking into other options.
We are also thinking of GetResponse because of lack of time.
If you can guarantee that Getresponse gets the job done without the confirmation notice. I think we will use them first and probably migrate to Acajoom Pro later on.
Acajoom Pro is great but I haven't used it for myself just for clients. It lacks some the tracking features I like in Aweber though. We will have to test it first.
Please confirm we can do what we want with Getresponse.
Thank you,
Laura |
